Job Description:
Reporting to the Director of the International Education Centre, the incumbent is accountable for contributing to the effectiveness of the office of the Director, International Education through the provision of administrative support and secretarial services. The incumbent provides a wide range of administrative and executive services on behalf and in support of the Director. The incumbent has total familiarity with the International Education Centre and is able to dialogue effectively with personnel at all levels. The incumbent is required to use tact and discretion when liaising with a wide variety of clients and staff at various levels, such as Deans and Chairs, other Colleges, Embassy staff, overseas partners, community groups and local partners. The incumbent is also responsible for ordering and administrating health insurance for international students registered in Algonquin College programs of study as well as for all short-term contract students from contracts. The incumbent is the first point of contact for insurance questions from agents, students, parents and future students. The incumbent also acts as a student advocate when dealing with medical issues/claims with the insurance company as well as with the medical facilities, including hospitals.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 (two) year diploma or equivalent in Business Administration or relevant fields.
- Minimum of 5 (five) years of practical experience in providing services to senior level management (Director’s Office), as well as experience of working with students, preferably International students of varying cultural backgrounds.
