Responsibilities Currently seeking a Process Engineer in the Engineering Team. The Process Engineer will be responsible for providing process optimization support services for the mill operation. The Process Engineer will monitor and react to area KPI’s, lead mill trials, troubleshoot and implementing process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications General Duties:
- Gather and monitor data, conduct trend analyses on process KPIs, and compile reports.
- Support projects with Reliability Work Teams, providing input on process trends, changes, and energy conservation programs.
- Handle process engineering tasks, including feasibility studies, design, project management, execution, and testing system capabilities.
- Troubleshoot process issues and recommend solutions for continuous improvement.
- Provide recommendations to Senior Management for maintaining a competitive operating environment.
- Perform engineering studies, process analysis, and cost forecasting for capital and major maintenance projects.
- Plan and execute work adhering to engineering codes, standards, and principles.
- Work cooperatively with various departments to optimize maintenance work orders, projects, and improvements.
- Participate in product development, defect elimination teams, and quality management systems.
Operational Duties:
- Monitor, trend, and report on process KPIs for operations departments.
- Monitor chemical, fossil fuel, and hog fuel consumption, and recommend improvements.
- Meet established milestone deadlines to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Conduct and assess trials and process studies, report results, and recommend future actions.
- Ensure project planning and implementation meet all regulatory and safety requirements.
Qualifications:
- The incumbent must have a degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the pulp and paper industry will be considered an asset
- Registered (or eligible for registration) as Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Manitoba
- Excellent understanding of Microsoft office and computer-based data analysis tools is required
- Strong problem solving, analytical and project management skills
- Strong documentation and communication skills will be essential.
