Would you like to take on a stimulating, high-impact challenge? We are seeking a Geographic Information System (GIS) Expert.

The role As the Geographic Information System (GIS) Expert, you will assume a senior-level subject matter expert role within our organization, responsible for overseeing the strategic development, implementation, and management of our Geographic Information Systems (GIS). This role requires a seasoned GIS professional with vision and a strong technical background and the ability to mentor and guide a multi-disciplined team. You will collaborate closely with various departments to ensure the seamless integration of GIS capabilities across all facets of our operations.

The Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the strategic vision for our GIS systems, aligning with the organization's overall goals and objectives.
  • Act as a mentor and key resource regarding GIS functions, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the creation and implementation of training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the GIS team and other stakeholders within the organization.
  • Manage GIS projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Provide expert guidance on GIS technology, tools, and methodologies, staying abreast of industry trends and advancements.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including IT, engineering, and data analytics, to integrate GIS solutions into broader organizational initiatives.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to understand their GIS needs and deliver solutions that drive business value.
  • Oversee the management and maintenance of GIS databases, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and security.
  • Champion the adoption of new GIS technologies and solutions that enhance organizational capabilities and performance.

The Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 15 years of extensive experience in GIS, with a proven track record in a senior leadership role.
  • Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS), spatial analysis, and data visualization tools.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a multi-disciplined team.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex projects, with excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering innovative GIS solutions.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and technologies.
