The location in Port Alberni, BC, is seeking talent to fill the position of Mechanical Engineer.
This job is permanent and full-time.
Job Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Deliver excellence in safety and environmental performance on all assigned activities and projects.
- Provide engineering support including major asset and equipment rebuilds, technical assistance, troubleshooting, and design improvements.
- Develop funding requests for improvement projects.
- Manage delivery of approved projects within commitments for project scope, quality, schedule, and cost.
- Provide technical support on improvement initiatives.
- Complete asset condition risk assessments and develop investment and risk mitigation plans.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and recommend path forward to realized benefits.
- Provide technical support with the development and execution of critical shutdown work.
- Develop and manage the execution of major maintenance and shutdown work order packages.
- Assemble quality control planning documents and manage as the work progresses.
Key Skills:
- Strong oral and written communication abilities, including technical writing, budget preparation, and presentations
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Strong organizational skills
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent computer skills with software such as SAP, MS Office, MS Project, and AutoCAD.
- Ability to work effectively and independently, collaboratively and cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong analytical skills and timely decision-making ability
- Self-sufficient, results-oriented with commitment to quality, service and customer satisfaction.
- Strong conflict resolution and performance management skills
- Demonstrated commitment to work within and create a safe and healthy work environment
Required Professional Experience/Qualifications:
- Candidate should possess a P. Eng designation.
- 5+ years of practical experience in an industrial setting would be an asset.
Salary Rate: $80,000 to $115,000 per annum (actual salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience, and internal parity).
