Position Scope Carbon Engineering’s mission is to generate reputable data that supports the commercial deployment of DAC technology. The Operations Trainer will be responsible to establish and maintain a high standard of competency within the organization, primarily focusing on Operations. Through collaboration with the Carbon Engineering Leadership, HSE and Engineering disciplines you will create an effective and sustainable training program, as well as assess effectiveness and engage in continuous improvement initiatives. As the training program becomes embedded in the Operations organization there will an opportunity to expand this program to include Maintenance and Engineering disciplines.
This position is a full-time, 40hrs/week position. This position is eligible for the 9/80 work schedule to offer a flexible work schedule. This role is based in Squamish, BC. Health Safety and Environment
- Demonstrate a positive safety culture.
- Identify, report, and resolve unsafe conditions, processes, or actions within the workplace.
- Ensure that all safety related incidents, accidents and near misses are reported and investigated in line with company policy.
Responsibilities
- Develop a training program, in close collaboration with subject matter experts, management, and stakeholders to identify training needs, learning objectives, and competency gaps.
- Ensure training material is maintained current and relevant as processes and systems change.
- Develop and support CE’s on-boarding program including first week/first month training plan development and mentorship program.
- Lead by example by providing guidance and mentorship to all levels of operations to promote and embed a continuous learning environment.
- Facilitate and perform regular effective training activities (hands-on, practical demonstrations, and equipment operation exercises) to reinforce learning.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, encouraging trainee participation, and addressing questions and concerns effectively.
- Develop, facilitate, and perform training and competency assessments, tests, and practical evaluations to measure trainees' comprehension and proficiency.
- Monitor trainee progress in accordance with their training profile, identify additional training needs and engage with Production Manager consistently.
- Develop and execute an assurance process for the training program to ensure effectiveness/robustness and sustainability.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and enhancement of the training program through solicitation of feedback from key stakeholders on material, methods, or delivery techniques.
- Keep informed with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements to ensure training materials remain current and relevant.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of training plans, performance, and competency gaps.
- Generate and distribute reports on training metrics, program effectiveness, and Operations progress for management review.
Education Education and Experience
- A Grade 12 or GED. A technical degree or diploma is preferable.
Experience
- 5+ years of related industry experience.
- Operations background with a passion for sharing knowledge.
- Experience providing formal operations training or mentoring in either a professional or academic environment.
- Control panel experience.

- Strong understanding of and aptitude for Production Operations in a chemical plant. Experience in an R&D environment would be an asset.
- Ability to read and explain P&ID’s, SOP’s, Process Control Narratives, Test plans.
- Solid grasp in anticipating Operational outcomes when executing process changes and ability to verbalize in a coaching/learning environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications – Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presenting information in both group and individual settings.
- Must have strong soft skills, including giving constructive feedback and fostering a positive learning environment.
- Must be a person of integrity, capable of excellent judgement and decision-making skills, showing the utmost discretion in the management of confidential corporate information and in the tone and words used to convey information.
Compensation And Benefits Carbon Engineering offers a competitive compensation package including:
- Base salary for a senior role is $92,565 to $121,000
- Up to 20% target for annual bonus
- 5% RRSP available after 1-year of service
- Comprehensive health benefits
- Vacation & Sick Days plus flexible work schedules, like 9/80, supporting a healthy work life balance
