We are in search of a Senior Health and Safety Specialist to join our team.
Your tasks
- Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety programs in compliance with OHSA and internal standards.
- Conduct regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are taken.
- Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses; recommend and implement preventive measures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety into all operational processes.
- Facilitate Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings and ensure follow-up on action items.
- Identify and deliver safety training programs for all levels of staff.
- Maintain accurate records of safety metrics, training, incidents, and inspections.
- Monitor and interpret changes in legislation and industry best practices; update policies and procedures accordingly.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor to junior safety staff and operational leaders
Your profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- Recognized safety certification (e.g., CRSP, CHSC, or equivalent).
- Minimum 10–15 years of progressive experience in health and safety within an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Proven field experience in high-risk operational settings.
- Strong knowledge of OHSA and applicable regulations in Ontario
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in team environments.
- Proficient in incident investigation, hazard analysis, and safety reporting tools.
- Experience in unionized environments preferred.
- Familiarity with ISO 45001 or similar safety management systems preferred.
