Classroom Champions is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping K-8 students build the confidence, perseverance and fundamental skills they need to excel and reach their potential in school and beyond. Since 2008, we’ve partnered with Olympic, Paralympic, professional, and collegiate athletes to inspire students across North America.
As a rapidly growing nonprofit, we’re seeking a passionate and mission-driven creative leader to join our team to lead the charge on video production and bring the stories of our Athlete Mentors to life.
Position Summary
The Head of Video is a highly creative hands-on, strategic individual, who will lead all aspects of our video production efforts from concept to delivery. This role will oversee the end-to-end video creation process, managing everything from pre-production planning and storytelling to post-production editing and optimization for multiple platforms. The Head of Video will collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure our video content inspires, educates, and engages, all while staying aligned with our brand, impact goals, and program delivery needs.
The ideal candidate is a gifted storyteller, experienced producer, and thoughtful leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, balances creativity with structure, and has a keen eye for engaging content that resonates across platforms.
The Head of Video will build and oversee a production pipeline that supports everything from curricular program videos for classrooms to brand campaigns and athlete features, ensuring every video reflects our mission, quality standards, and the communities we serve.
Job Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Vision

Serve as the organization’s lead storyteller through video, developing a strategy that aligns with Classroom Champions’ brand and impact goals

Translate organizational objectives into compelling video content that supports program delivery, educator engagement, athlete storytelling, and brand marketing

Build and manage scalable video production systems that support consistent, high-quality content creation across all audiences and platforms
-
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Product, Program Delivery, Curriculum) to ensure video content serves both creative and functional needs

Understand the place of AI within this capacity and how it could benefit opportunities for efficiencies

Video Production & Storytelling

Lead the creative direction, planning, and execution of video projects from concept to completion
-
Oversee or manage the filming process, including directing talent, interviews, and on-location shoots
-
Operate (or supervise operation of) production equipment including cameras, lighting, and sound to capture high-quality footage
-
Establish and uphold brand standards for tone, voice, and visual storytelling across all video formats
-
Optimize video content for various platforms (e.g., social media, website, Slack, etc.) to ensure maximum engagement and effectiveness.

Ensure timely delivery of video content for use in training, educational presentations, or digital campaigns.

Post-Production & Editing Oversight

Edit or oversee editing workflows/contractors to deliver polished, impactful videos using Adobe Premiere Pro (or equivalent tools)

Manage motion graphics, animation, color grading, and sound design in collaboration with contractors or internal editors

Ensure timely delivery of content across platforms and campaigns, meeting multiple deadlines and priorities simultaneously

Platform Optimization & Innovation

Tailor content for specific platforms and audiences, including YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, internal LMS, and educator portals

Stay on top of trends in digital storytelling, video formats, and audience engagement to ensure our content remains fresh, relevant, and impactful

Establish feedback loops with educators, athletes, and internal stakeholders to continuously refine video approaches based on real-world impact

Team Management & Collaboration
-
Manage video contractors, assigning projects and ensuring consistency in video quality and adherence to deadlines
-
Set expectations, timelines, and workflows for content delivery across multiple internal stakeholders
-
Train and empower other team members to contribute to video storytelling efforts as needed
-
Coordinate with other team members (e.g., marketing, sales, IT, athletes etc.) to ensure unified messaging across all content platforms
Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience in video production, storytelling, or digital media, with a strong portfolio of work across multiple formats
- A degree or diploma in Film Production, Digital Media, Communications, or a related field is an asset
- Proficient with video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro required; After Effects and other Adobe Suite tools) is an asset
- Proficient with knowledge of AI
- Proven experience managing full-cycle video production, from pre-production to post
- Hands-on experience with filming equipment, audio gear, lighting, and post-production software
- Demonstrated ability to lead creative direction and maintain brand consistency across projects
- Experience managing internal and freelance video teams, workflows, and multiple priorities
- Strategic thinker with a deep understanding of how video supports marketing, education, and mission-driven storytelling
- Comfortable working in a collaborative, remote-first environment with teams across different time zones
- Passion for youth development, education, and equity
- Excellent collaboration and communication abilities, with a focus on understanding the unique needs of athletes, educators, and internal teams.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment, adjusting quickly to last-minute changes, such as sudden shifts in content needs, schedules, or location-based logistics.
Other Requirements
- Must be legally able to work in Canada or the U.S. without restrictions.
- Must possess valid travel documentation, as this role requires occasional travel between Canada and the U.S.
