Therapy Assistant
About the role
Your Opportunity:
The Recovery Supports Day Program offers structured, weekday rehabilitation programming that promotes social connection, skill building, leisure engagement, and access to community resources. It is staffed by an interdisciplinary team including Peer Support Workers, Recovery Support Workers, a Social Worker, Recreation Therapists, and Occupational Therapists. This team works collaboratively to support individuals in their recovery journey within a client-centered, community-oriented setting. Within this environment, the Therapy Assistant (TA) provides both direct and indirect care under the supervision of Occupational Therapists (OTs) and Recreation Therapists (RecTs). A key component of this role involves planning, scheduling, and facilitating therapeutic group programs, as well as leading individual interventions aligned with each client’s care plan. TAs adapt their approach in response to evolving client needs, acuity, and risk. TAs are responsible for initiating episodes of care, completing chart reviews, facilitating client orientations, and engaging clients in services. They also contribute clinical observations to care planning discussions and assist in coordinating ongoing care in collaboration with the broader team. Additional duties include documenting clinical interventions, maintaining and ordering equipment and supplies, tracking program data, supporting weekly case reviews and discharge planning, and contributing to continuous quality improvement initiatives. The TA plays an active role in team communication, service planning, student mentorship, and promoting a safe, inclusive, and responsive therapeutic environment. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. By applying on this posting, if you are the successful candidate, you agree to and will become an employee of Recovery Alberta.
