Position Description

Title: Slitter Operator

Department: Converting/Slitting

Location: Cornwall, ON

Reports to: Production Supervisor

Position Overview: The Slitter Operator plays a vital role in the production process by converting jumbo rolls of tape into finished slit rolls. This position ensures efficient machine operation, consistent product quality, and adherence to production schedules. By performing equipment setups, monitoring output, and addressing minor mechanical issues, the Slitter Operator helps minimize downtime and maintain smooth workflow. As a key team member, this role supports cross-functional collaboration, promotes a safe work environment, and contributes to overall manufacturing excellence.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Operate and maintain slitting and packaging equipment.
  • Set up machines, load jumbo rolls, thread material, and perform changeovers.
  • Monitor machine output and make necessary adjustments for quality and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs (e.g., blade changes, shaft adjustments).
  • Support packaging line operations and assist packers as needed.
  • Ensure proper labeling, boxing, and palletizing of finished products.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow production schedules and meet output targets.
  • Inspect products for defects and report issues.
  • Use hoists or team lifting for manual machine operations.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and wear required PPE.
  • Participate in cycle counts and assist with training new employees.
  • Promote teamwork and a positive work environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications and Work Conditions

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Strong mechanical, technical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and machine setup manuals.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with production procedures and safety regulations.
  • Standing for extended periods.
  • Rotating shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
  • Fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
  • Repetitive tasks involving lifting, moving, and manipulating materials up to 55 lbs.
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality required.
