Manager of Community & Wellness Programs
About the role
For over 20 years, The YMCA has delivered health & wellness programming to youth and families who face barriers to positive wellbeing. The Manager of Community & Wellness Programs will oversee the operation of several prevention-based mental health and social service programs including Prenatal Wellness, Y Mindfulness Programs, the YMCA Young Parents Program, and additional wellness programs designed to support vulnerable communities across the Okanagan, in partnership with like-minded organizations.
Reporting to the General Manager of Youth, Family, and Community Services, the Manager will oversee day to day participant and financial targets of multiple government- and donor- funded programs, supporting staff with the higher knowledge, planning, and coaching they seek to deliver their programs. The goal of the Y’s Youth, Family & Community Services Division is to enhance the quality of life for those seeking independence, purpose, and positive health outcomes.

Salary Position: $59,966-$66,498 annually, dependent on level of formal credentials and experience.

- To provide strategic leadership in the development and delivery of new and existing prevention-focused programs in areas such as prenatal wellness, mental health, youth leadership, parenting and relationships, and other programming in the Okanagan;
- To coach, develop and support a team of professional staff to achieve excellence in service, including social workers and mental health counsellors;
- To work in partnership and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders including YMCA staff and volunteers, Mental Health providers, community agencies, school district, and public partners;
- To ensure all financial and activity requirements and standards, YMCA Policies and Procedures, and legal requirements are met;
- To track program results, complete and submit progress reports, and complete program evaluation;
- To lead the hiring, orientation, and performance development of all direct reports;
- To perform other related duties as required and be flexible to a changing work environment and growth of new programs;
- Adopt a culture of Philanthropy and fundraising that includes relationship building and service to others;
- Other duties as assigned
We'd love to hear from people with:
- Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in a related field, Masters degree preferred (e.g. Counselling, Social Work, Leadership);
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working with clients considered multi-barriered;
- Direct management and supervisory experience leading staff in a community program setting;
- Experience with developing community-based programming and working in collaboration with other community agencies and service providers;
- Strong business writing skills, including experience with reporting and developing plans;
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolutions skills;
- Demonstrated ability to make sound judgements and decisions; effective prioritizing and problem solving skills;
- Ability to be flexible, adaptable and multi-task in a high demand environment with changing programs;
- Ability to work independently, take initiative and manage time effectively in a fast paced changing environment
- Current First Aid certificate and Criminal Record Check required;
- Ability to work some evenings, weekends and a flexible schedule, as required;
- Vehicle required
