POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for developing and maintaining documentation from product development through to production; including working with all areas of operations and engineering to create bills of material (BOM), workmanship standards, job travelers, and build instructions.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Compiles, maintains and updates bill of materials (BOM) from customer drawings/specifications and inputs into the data management/ERP system (E2); including creating and adjusting part descriptions, numbers, and unit of measure as needed
- Supports in the initial material buy with purchasing of programs.
- Identifies types and quantities of purchased components and raw material for the construction of cost estimates for quoting of NPI initiatives; including determining the required operations, inspections, estimated set-up, labour and per unit processing times
- Creates and maintains configuration control of documents.
- Prepares NPI and production documentation detailing each operation through the routings required for the manufacture of individual parts; including development of comprehensive operational narrative describing in detail the steps the operator must complete in each process
- Modifies existing process plans to reflect changes in manufacturing, method, machine, or material.
- Maintains and reviews customer drawings as new technical data or revisions are released; including determining if a process change shall be initiated, and communicating these changes to appropriate team members
- Confers with departmental leads/supervisors to determine status of assigned projects
- Creates and edits technical documentation for SRED and post-production reports
- Supports project management and estimating as required.
- Additional duties as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience:
- College Diploma in a technical discipline, with a background in composites
- Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Molding (VARTM), and manufacturing (aerospace and military defense a definite asset)
- Experience and familiarity with engineering processes, process planning, and process improvement (LEAN, 5S, or 6 sigma an asset)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings, including an understanding of geometric tolerances.
- Strong technical writing and math skills
Competencies:
- Problem solver and strategic thinker with a strong work ethic and ability to work independently in a fast paced
- Excellent organizational, time management and project management skills
- Strong attention to detail, with excellent problem solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong analytical thinking, with ability to conceptualize with minimal supervision
- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with others to support the team and customer relationships
- Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow
- Hands-on with proven Leadership, Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement achievements.
- Reviews and incorporates engineering changes and revisions as required
- Must be organized and have strong time and priority management skills
- Working experience of Microsoft project, Excel macros, pivot tables
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to multi-task while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced team environment while meeting all scheduling/production requirements.
- Demonstrated strong work ethic and sense of urgency for completing assigned work with quality and productivity; ensuring no aspect of the work is neglected.
- Works to overcome obstacles in completing tasks and assignments, including an ability to adjust priorities to multiple demands and unanticipated events.
