Position Summary:
HeavyAero is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Project Engineer with a P.Eng. designation to join our high-performing engineering team. This individual will be responsible for planning, executing, and delivering aviation maintenance and modification projects. The ideal candidate brings a blend of technical acumen, leadership, and regulatory knowledge to ensure projects are delivered safely on time, and within scope.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in leading and managing end-to-end aircraft maintenance, modification, and refurbishment projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
- Develop detailed project work scopes, schedules, and resource plans in collaboration with maintenance, engineering, supply chain, and quality teams.
- Act (as needed) as the primary point of contact for assigned aircraft projects—communicating with internal teams, customers, and vendors to ensure project transparency and alignment.
- Monitor project progress daily; identify risks and roadblocks; implement corrective actions and escalate critical issues as needed.
- Assist in cooordinating the induction, maintenance execution, inspection, and return-to-service processes for aircraft projects.
- Ensure all engineering documentation, parts provisioning, and labor resources are prepared ahead of key milestones.
- Track and report project KPIs including turnaround time (TAT), cost performance, resource utilization, and customer satisfaction.
- Support contract compliance by managing scope changes, work order adjustments, and customer approvals.
- Collaborate with regulatory bodies and ensure engineering activities meet TCCA, FAA, and/or EASA compliance standards.
- Drive post-project reviews and continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, quality, and customer experience in future projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (or related field).
- P.Eng. designation
- Minimum 5 years of engineering experience in aviation, aerospace, or related industries.
- Proven experience with aircraft maintenance, modifications, or MRO operations.
- Strong working knowledge of TCCA, FAA, and/or EASA standards.
- Proficiency with CAD and engineering tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA).
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- PMP or similar project management certification is considered an asset.
