About the Opportunity

Element6 Solutions is currently seeking an Intermediate Piping Designer for a secondment role at a major client site in the Sarnia area. This position is best suited to a technically skilled designer with strong 2D/3D design capability in AutoCAD Plant 3D and hands-on experience working with point cloud data from laser scans.

The successful candidate will be integrated into the client’s engineering and maintenance teams, supporting brownfield piping projects in a live industrial environment. This role involves a combination of design work, field verification, and coordination with client stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop 2D and 3D piping layouts and isometric drawings using AutoCAD Plant 3D
• Integrate and utilize point cloud data from laser scans to ensure accurate as-built modeling and tie-in design
• Perform field verification and walkdowns to validate existing conditions and piping tie-in locations
• Mark up and redline as-built drawings based on field findings and measurement
• Apply industry codes and standards (ASME, ANSI, API, ISO) to piping designs
• Collaborate with client engineers, trades, and project teams to ensure constructible designs
• Use field measurement tools (laser scanner, tape measure, calipers) to collect or confirm data
• Adhere to all PPE and site safety requirements while working in an operating facility

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience in piping design using AutoCAD Plant 3D, ideally in brownfield environments
• Demonstrated experience working with point cloud data, including interpreting laser scans, and aligning models to scans
• Strong understanding of piping systems, components, and layout principles
• Familiar with applicable codes and standards: ASME B31.3, API, ANSI, ISO
• Comfortable performing field verification, walkdowns, and interacting with client site team
• Able to work independently in a client-directed role with support from the Element6 team

Nice to Have

• Prior secondment or embedded experience at industrial client sites
• Familiarity with Navisworks or similar 3D model review tools
• Experience with laser scanning hardware or scan-to-BIM workflows
