Job Description The Material Handling group of Fluor’s Mining and Metals business line is involved in all aspects of design, mechanical engineering, and construction of large scale belt conveyors, crushing and screening stations, bulk material storage and reclaim solutions, rail loading and unloading facilities. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced mechanical engineers and designers and be responsible for creation and upkeep of various engineering documents to support our clients’ Projects. This position will require excellent knowledge of engineering basics and strong mechanical acumen to develop engineering plans, documents, and lists. Responsibilities include:

  • Create equipment specifications and datasheets for medium complexity equipment
  • Develop and upkeep mechanical equipment list database
  • Perform calculations related to stockpile and bin geometries and equipment power draws
  • Review vendor equipment documents and drawings for compliance and solve problems of basic to moderate engineering complexity
  • Support the lead Material Handling engineer with administration of discipline team and interface with other discipline groups such as structural, electrical, and civil
  • Adhere to industry codes and standards as well as company and department practices and procedures
  • Plan, organize, and carry out assignments in a timely manner
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Job Requirements

  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and two (2) years of work-related experience; a recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
  • Engineer-in-Training achievement status accomplished
  • Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials
  • Practical field experience
  • Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs

Other Job Requirements Preferred Qualifications

  • Work experience in the mining industry or role dealing with large scale bulk material handling equipment
