Communications Disorders Assistant, Casual Part-Time

Speech Language Pathology, Niagara Falls site - Multi site

Hours of work: On call as needed, Monday to Friday

Union: Service Employees International Union

Position Objective:

Reporting to the Manager, the Communications Disorders Assistant will work under the direct supervision of the Speech Language Pathologist. The Communications Disorders Assistant is responsible for assisting in the provision of quality patient care. Travel between sites required.

Qualifications:

o Graduate of a Communication Disorders Assistant program from a recognized College

o Good computer skills, including knowledge of Board Maker to design and produce augmentative communication tools

o Able to work independently in carrying out communication screens, hearing screens and given therapy programs

o Other assigned duties as provided by the Speech Language Pathologist

o Must be willing to receive training on safe lifting and transferring of patients

o Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

o Evidence of effective customer service, organizational, interpersonal, communication, judgment and decision-making skills

o Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team

o Flexible, self-directed and able to work effectively with minimal supervision

o Must be available for all shifts, vacation replacement, sick time and paid holidays and have access to a vehicle

o The successful applicant will be required to travel between sites

o Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset

o Consistent and regular attendance required
