Organization Design Specialist
About the role
ABOUT THE ROLE:
This position is responsible for analyzing the organizational structures of Departments and assisting PEC staff and Department management staff in designing and recommending approaches and operating models that reflect organization and job design principles to support the business strategy and operations and enable workforce planning; assessing organizational structures to assist the organization in improving efficiencies, strategies, plan design and structures; to enhance and improve existing processes and procedures; and providing support and advice to business leaders and PEC staff on job design and compensation issues while engaging stakeholders.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
• Assists the Manager, Organizational Design and Compensation, in establishing and maintaining principles and framework to govern organizational and job design, including span of control, and levels of work.
• Conducts research and organizational structure needs analysis across the organization and recommends approaches and operating models that reflect organizational and job design principles that will assist Departments to support workforce planning and pathing.
• Works with the Manager, Organizational Design and Compensation, to develop and implement organizational and job design tools, programs, and strategies that are linked with corporate competencies, recruitment and learning and development, to support the organization’s business strategy and operations.
• Provides coaching and creates tools and standards with PEC partners to analyze organizational structures, responsibilities, team work, business or operating procedures, reporting relationships and work processes to assist PEC partners and business leaders in designing efficient methods of accomplishing work.
• Supports and follows up on implemented changes and evaluates results using established KPIs.
• Collaborates with PEC partners and Department management staff, as organizational changes unfold, and provides expertise and perspective in line with established design principles, while ensuring business needs are met.
• Educates, advises, supports, and coaches the business and staff on sound organizational and job design practices, in collaboration with PEC partners.
• Assesses the impact as the potential changes of job description, roles and structures are identified within business units.
• Conducts regular reviews of the organization’s structure and recommends changes to improve organizational efficiency in consultation with PEC partners and Department management staff.
• Assists the Manager to keep current, update and maintain the framework and methodology of organizational and job design.
• Facilitates the process of creating new positions and replacements around organizational job design.
• Collaborates with Compensation team on the salary structure job grades and ensuring job descriptions are consistent with internal framework, policies and procedures.
• Participates in or leads projects and activities, in coordination with PEC partners and other Branches or Departments within the Region, as assigned.
• Builds job review capacity by leading and/or supporting training initiatives with PEC partners while encouraging exchange of information and ideas through building collaborative environments.
• Participates on committees, work groups, task forces and special projects, as assigned.
• Manages information in accordance with legislation and corporate standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned, in accordance with Branch and Department objectives.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
• Successful completion of a University Degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management or related field or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of three to five (3-5) years experience in organizational design, job analysis/evaluation and compensation, including conducting research and needs analysis.
• Thorough knowledge of organizational design and strategy, and organizational effectiveness.
• Demonstrated business literacy with demonstrated ability in persuasive communications.
• Knowledge of job analysis or job evaluation to understand impact of design as it relates to organizational effectiveness and compensation.
• Knowledge of change management to support organizational transformation and effective work model.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Human Resource functions and processes, collective agreement interpretation, and compensation related practices.
• Demonstrated ability in the Region’s core competencies.
• Advanced skills in virtual platforms and MS Office Suite including the use of virtual platforms for conducting meetings and/or presentations.
• Strong problem solving, decision making and analytical skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to connect with a range of internal and external stakeholders while focusing on fostering collaborative work relationships.
• Strong report writing, research, analytical and presentation skills and work to tight deadlines.
• Strong ability to develop relationships and work in a welcoming and inclusive environment, where diversity is celebrated and where everyone can develop to their full potential.
