Heritage Family Services is currently hiring a Team Lead to join our Red Deer, Alberta team. This full-time position offers a rewarding opportunity to lead and support youth-focused programs and staff within a caring, trauma-informed environment.
We are looking for someone who is naturally supportive, organized, reliable, and approachable—someone others describe as genuine and people-centered. Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for working with youth are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build meaningful, trust-based relationships with children and youth
- Foster a safe and stable environment, following all security protocols and reducing anxiety among youth
- Lead your team during shifts by offering hands-on support, coaching, and direction
- Assist in implementing daily routines and engaging, youth-driven programming
- Support youth with meal planning and preparation
- Uplift and encourage each youth’s self-worth and identity
- Advocate for the rights and well-being of each child/youth, including ensuring access to advocacy resources
- Respond empathetically to the emotional needs of the youth and help them build core life skills
- Promote development in emotional regulation, problem-solving, and healthy decision-making
Requirements:
- Diploma in Human Services (2+ years) with at least 3 years of relevant experience
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and a clean Driver’s Abstract (under 6 demerits)
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector and Child Intervention Check
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and TCI (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention) principles
- Appreciation for Indigenous cultures and a commitment to culturally respectful care
- Inclusive, respectful attitude toward all identities, genders, sexual orientations, and cultural backgrounds
- Ability to communicate effectively across cultures and work well with marginalized populations
Mandatory Requirements:
If you are selected as the successful candidate, you will be required to provide the following documents as a condition of employment upon receiving the job offer
A Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector) that is dated within the last 6 months
A Child Intervention Check that is dated within the last 6 months
Proof of eligibility to work in Canada
Class 5 Alberta Government Issued Driver’s License
A Driver's Abstract that is dated within the last 6 months
Copy of education listed in resume.
