About the role

Purpose

This role supports the development of Business Intelligence and Analytics in Canadian Commercial Banking ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Accountabilities:

Supports performance management, Credit Risk and AML Compliance& business strategy execution:

  • Designs and develops impactful business intelligence reports, including Sales Team Scorecards, sales activity insights, Credit Risk Compliance, Credit Adjudication process, AML Risk, Client Onboarding process and other portfolio management solutions using leading-edge business intelligence tools (e.g. Power BI, Power Platform, Google Cloud)
  • Empowers Sales teams and Business Banking leadership with interactive dashboards with comprehensive drill-down capabilities to measure and manage portfolio and business performance effectively
  • Ensures data is complete, accurate, consistent, and available on a timely basis to support informed decision-making
  • Good to have knowledge of credit adjudication process and AML risks for commercial clients

Provides business intelligence solutions and stakeholder support:

• Acts as a centre of excellence for Commercial Banking, working directly with all stakeholders to understand their needs, translate requirements and deliver best-in-class BI solutions

• Develops analytics to support critical commercial bank functions (e.g. compliance, performance enablement, finance, pricing etc.)

• Partners with business stakeholders to address ad hoc requests, ensuring that queries are addressed in a timely manner and feedback are promptly incorporated into future developments

• Drives process automation and efficiency improvements, reducing cycle time for report generation and data accessibility

• Continuously enhance expertise in business intelligence tools and infrastructure, staying at the forefront of industry innovations to provide best-in-class solutions

Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education / Experience / Other Information:

Educational Requirements:

• Undergraduate degree in quantitative or STEM discipline

Experience:

  • 3+ years’ experience working with business stakeholders and end-to-end delivery of business intelligence dashboard for business users
  • Experience in Business Intelligence visualization tools, especially Power BI, with the ability to learn new applications quickly
  • Experience in Commercial Clients lifecycle – Sales, Onboarding, Credit Adjudication Process and AML risks
  • Experience accessing, compiling and analyzing large volumes of data into usable form, using Power Query and SQL server database programming

Skills:

  • Strong analytical thinking, effective problem solving, and organizational know-how skills are critical for success
  • Knowledge of credit adjudication process and AML risks for commercial clients
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required as this role will collaborate with a wide audience of business stakeholders
  • Strong prioritizing, presentation, project management and planning skills
  • The incumbent should be able to work in a fast paced and energized environment, deal with tight deadlines, solve complex problems, and balance conflicting priorities.

Working Conditions:

• Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
