About the Role
The Civil Engineering Intern will support field engineers and project teams with on-site inspections, technical documentation, and project coordination tasks. This position offers hands-on experience in construction operations, allowing students to apply academic knowledge to real-world civil engineering projects while developing practical skills in a dynamic work environment.
This position is in-person and located in the charming town of St. Thomas ON.
Key Responsibilities

Assist field engineers with daily site activities and technical support tasks.

Conduct site audits and generate regular reports, including tracking project progress and scheduling updates.

Perform quantity take-offs and productivity tracking to support cost control and operational efficiency.

Support the review and coordination of engineering drawings, including identifying potential clashes.
-
Take minutes during project meetings and ensure follow-up on assigned actions.
-
Help maintain organized project documentation, including drawings, reports, and correspondence.

Provide technical assistance to field staff, contractors, and subcontractors as needed.

Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and workflow.
What you bring to the Team
-
Currently enrolled in a university program in Civil Engineering.
-
Experience in the construction industry or on-site work is a strong asset.
-
Basic understanding of construction drawings, materials, equipment, and standard practices.
-
Beginner-level knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and design software is an asset.
-
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
-
Strong organizational and time management skills.
-
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
-
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
-
Demonstrated work ethic and motivation to take initiative.
-
Ability to adapt to changing work schedules and meet tight deadlines.

Comfortable accessing all areas of a construction site in various weather and environmental conditions
