Position Overview:

As the Bookkeeping Manager at our firm, you will be a key member of our team, responsible for overseeing all bookkeeping operations and ensuring client deliverables are met. You will play a crucial role in managing the bookkeeping team, collaborating with client services, and maintaining high standards of accuracy. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong QuickBooks Online (QBO) expertise and leadership skills to advance their career in bookkeeping management.

Responsibilities:

Bookkeeping Oversight & Ownership

  • Serve as the main point of contact for bookkeeping-related inquiries from Partners
  • Create and maintain bookkeeping work items, updating frequencies and budgets as necessary
  • Manage the capacity and workload of the bookkeeping team
  • Monitor the time and budget of bookkeeping work items
  • Inquire with the team about budget overruns and excessive time spent on work items
  • Provide, track, and help resolve feedback on work completed by the Bookkeeping Team
  • Autonomously handle GST/Period-end reviews, creating capacity for other team members

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work with the Client Services Team to obtain documents and clarify transactions
  • Collaborate with Accounting Team to clarify complex transactions
  • Report to Partners on the status of bookkeeping activities
  • Provide weekly updates during regular meetings or in separate sessions as needed
  • Collaborate with Partners on the development of training for new and existing bookkeepers

Process Improvement & Technical Expertise

  • Remove barriers that prevent the timely completion of bookkeeping on a monthly/quarterly basis
  • Leverage QuickBooks Online (QBO) knowledge to eliminate inefficiencies and fill knowledge gaps
  • Conduct second-level reviews before transitioning work to accountants for year-end or internal management reports
  • Partner with senior management to implement changes that enhance workflow

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeping Manager or similar role in an accounting firm.
  • Extensive knowledge of QuickBooks Online (QBO), Dext, Plooto and other cloud bookkeeping software.
  • Strong understanding of GST and period-end review processes.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in work.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
  • Positive attitude and ability to take everything in stride.
  • Autonomous and proactive in managing work and team capacity.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remove barriers to completion.
