Our Quality & Risk Management Group is looking for an analyst to join our conflicts of interest resolving team. Resolvers are responsible for identifying and mitigating potential conflicts of interest from the information provided through an internally developed application. This application assists the Firm in complying with legal and regulatory independence requirements related to the provision of services and in identifying potential conflicts of interest with proposed engagements. The Resolver will be expected to apply professional judgement by complying to the requirements under numerous professional standards including but not limited to the CPA Code of Professional Conduct (CPA Code) and the IESBA International Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants (IESBA Code). This role will be responsible for managing conflicts of interest, communicating resolutions to our engagement teams and participating on a variety of ad-hoc projects.

What you will do

  • Identifying potential conflicts of interest, applying professional judgement, establishing and communicating conflict mitigation plans to engagement teams, which may be supplemented with email or other communications.
  • Working directly with Partners, Managers and Professional Staff from our lines of client services (Audit, Tax & Legal and Advisory), local Risk Management, local Legal Counsel and Resolvers from other member firms when necessary.
  • Responding to day-to-day conflict of interest enquiries (telephone/e-mail) ensuring timely and accurate responses.
  • Researching enquiries.
  • Assisting with the managing of content and data.
  • Highlighting and escalating issues to subject matter experts for appropriate action.
  • Reviewing, analyzing and maintaining reports related to conflicts of interest, highlighting areas requiring further action and follow-up as necessary.
  • Helping to assess issues in application functionality and testing changes.
  • Providing support on ad-hoc project work.
  • Providing similar support to other compliance applications/processes as needed.

What you bring to the role

  • Post-secondary education, preferably in a business-related field
  • Strong analytical, judgement and critical thinking skills

  • Experience with and ability to maintain confidentiality of data
  • Exhibit initiative, follow-up and follow through with customer support
  • Ability to efficiently process urgent requests
  • Ability to perform effectively under conditions of fluctuating workload
  • Proven track record of teambuilding, relationship management, and dealing effectively with Senior Management
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent organizational, planning, problem solving, decision making and time management skills
  • High aptitude to learning new systems / technology
  • Ability to assimilate, analyze and facilitate information sharing
  • Proficiency in English at a business level is required

This position requires written and oral fluency in English. The successful candidate will be required to support or collaborate with English-speaking colleagues or stakeholders while at KPMG.

KPMG BC Region Pay Range Information

The expected base salary range for this position is $54,000 to $81,000 and may be eligible for bonus awards. The determination of an applicant’s base salary within this range is based on the individual’s location, skills & competencies, and unique qualifications. In addition, KPMG offers a comprehensive and competitive Total Rewards program.
