This is a pivotal role that will oversee a group of Instructional Designers and manage a diverse portfolio of training projects from inception to completion. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with a passion for adult learning, a strong understanding of instructional design methodologies, and proven leadership skills. You will play a key role in shaping our enterprise-wide learning strategy and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, engaging, and effective training solutions that meet the evolving needs of our business.
Position Title: Team Lead, Enterprise Training Solutions (Instructional Design) Department: Enterprise Solutions
Location: Toronto or Vancouver
Reports To: Manager, Enterprise Training Solutions
Key Responsibilities T eam Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and coach a team of Instructional Designers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, provide constructive feedback, and support the professional growth of team members.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and best practices within the team.
- Participate in the recruitment and onboarding of new Instructional Designers.
Project Management & Oversight
- Oversee the end-to-end development and delivery of multiple training projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Work closely with stakeholders across various departments to identify training needs, define project scopes, and establish clear objectives.
- Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and resource allocation.
- Proactively identify and mitigate project risks and roadblocks.
- Ensure all training solutions align with organizational goals and learning objectives.
Instructional Design & Strategy
- Provide expert guidance and support to Instructional Designers on instructional design principles, adult learning theories, and technology-enhanced learning solutions.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of enterprise-wide instructional design standards, templates, and best practices.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and innovative approaches in learning and development.
- Advise on the most effective learning modalities (e.g., e-learning, instructor-led training, blended learning, microlearning) for different content and audiences.
Stakeholder Management & Communication
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, subject matter experts, and business leaders across the organization.
- Effectively communicate project status, progress, and outcomes to all relevant parties.
- Act as a central point of contact for all training-related inquiries and initiatives.
Quality Assurance & Evaluation
- Review and provide constructive feedback on instructional design deliverables to ensure quality, accuracy, and effectiveness.
- Develop and implement strategies for evaluating the impact and effectiveness of training programs.
- Utilize data and feedback to continuously improve training solutions and processes.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Learning & Development, Human Resources, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in instructional design, with a strong portfolio showcasing diverse learning solutions.
- 2+ years of experience in a team lead or supervisory role, managing instructional designers or learning professionals.
- Proven expertise in applying adult learning principles, instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM), and learning technologies (e.g., Articulate, Adobe Creative Cloud Suites, Synthesia, etc).
- Demonstrated experience managing complex training projects from concept to completion, including scope definition, resource allocation, and stakeholder management.
- Strong proficiency with authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline 360, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia) and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Strategic thinking with a strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude.
- PMP or other project management certification is a plus.
The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $95,000-115,000. The actual salary offered will take into consideration a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the individual’s skill, experience, education and training, the market compensation of the role, and the consideration to internal equity.
