Are you a Deck Engineer or Crane Operator who takes pride in working safely, precisely, and as part of a great team? If that sounds like you, we’d love to connect! VanPile is looking for experienced professionals to join our crew in Prince Rupert for an exciting marine project.
Now Hiring: Deck Engineers (3 Positions Available)
Location: Prince Rupert, BC (Fly-In Fly-Out)
Schedule: 2 weeks on / 1 week off
Duration: 12 months
Travel & Accommodation: Fully covered
What You’ll Be Doing: • Operating heavy equipment to move, load, and place materials on marine and construction sites
- Using cranes to lift and position equipment, dredge, and drive piles in a marine environment
- Calculating crane capacities and weights to ensure safe rigging and hoisting
- Reading and following load charts to stay within crane limits
- Assembling and operating cranes per manufacturer and company specs
- Performing inspections and maintenance, and reporting any issues promptly
- Maintaining and repairing deck mechanical and hydraulic systems
- Keeping an up-to-date catalogue of all equipment in your area
What We’re Looking For: • Experience: 5+ years operating various equipment, including friction cranes, especially in marine construction
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of civil and marine construction, including underground utilities
- Certifications:
- • Valid crane certification (Level or Red Seal equivalent)
- Marine Basic First Aid
- Valid driver’s license and clean abstract (if operating a company vehicle)
- Skills:
- • Confident operating cranes, loaders, excavators, and marine derrick equipment
- Skilled in crane assembly, capacity calculations, and mechanical/hydraulic maintenance
- Familiarity with local waters is a bonus!
