Job Purpose
The mission of the Senior Manager, Corporate Engagement and Partnerships is to think differently, do differently and build innovative new ways to strategically partner end-to-end with Canadian corporations of all sizes to increase support opportunities for World Vision Canada’s beneficiaries. This highly relational person will directly lead the Corporate Engagement team and indirectly the Gift-in-Kind (GIK) staff to foster deepening relationships with current and prospect new public and private corporation relationships across Canada, and possibly globally. Together with the corporate engagement team, the Senior Manager, Corporate Engagement will propose a variety of current World Vision offerings to corporations that include single donations, emergency response giving, GIK, special philanthropic projects, joint private/public programming for grant applications, employee giving and engagement, corporate sponsorship and international trips to see our programming in action. They will strategically lead the growth and further development of these products with feedback from donors and the communities we seek to help and be the catalytic thinker for future new philanthropic corporate – enterprise to small business – offerings, even Merger and Acquisition opportunities. This role is supported by philanthropy enablement and corporate marketing teams and partners with the engagement teams.
This leadership role will report to the Vice President, Philanthropy & Partnerships and Director of Philanthropy Engagement to be a strategic part of the business unit and a corporate subject matter expert across the entire organization. This position requires a leader who has demonstrated an agility in approach during different contexts, showed an ability to be opportunistic as new circumstances have presented and patient to pursue and cultivate complex partnerships that have a high yield. We are seeking a leader who can plot a course and lead a team towards exponential multi-million-dollar growth to help World Vision Canada programs to save and improve the lives of more vulnerable children living in dangerous places around the world.
Responsibilities
- Through applying industry proven, account-based approach to opportunity pipeline management, will lead the development of World Vision Canada’s short- and long-term corporate partnership strategies with a focus on opportunities valued $100k-$1+m per
- Develop and advance relationships with a network of CxOs of both national and international companies across all verticals proactively recommending ways to philanthropically or publicly partner to raise donations, GIK, revenue or grant funding
- Lead the business development plan for the Corporate Engagement team, including forming comprehensive key Tier 1 and Tier 2 account plans that deliver annual revenue goals and builds a pipeline of opportunities for the following fiscal year(s)
- Formulate a test / learn plan and approach for Small Businesses to determine the viability and financial return of World Vision having a unique B: B prospecting and cultivation approach to this segment
- Oversee and coach the Corporate Engagement managers in strategic selling and pipeline management principles, sharing industry best practices and vertical differences, leading a regular cadence of account management and assisting with closing larger opportunities
- Actively build and nurture their own portfolio of Tier 1 accounts and through various channels, develop tailored customer journeys with a mutual client value exchange that ends in the goal of growing engagement and multi-year revenue for World Vision Canada
- Lead the Corporate Engagement Working Group, bringing agreement to organizational interaction improvements (efficiencies and effectiveness) and actively coordinates staff toward implementation of the integrated strategy and compliance with its operational imperatives and best practices.
- Create and attend networking opportunities that will grow and deepen World Vision Canada’s relationships with existing and prospective donors and corporate sponsors and government funding agencies
- Engages with CxOs and corporate influencers through trips to the international communities where World Vision provides Humanitarian programming to show the impact of their gifts
- Ensure that all processes and procedures relative to corporate partnerships are compliant with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) regulations and directives, with Imagine Canada requirements as well as internal legal and risk department due diligence and directives.
Qualifications
- Able to lead a high performing sales team to obtain organizational objectives including ROI
- Highly relational and engaging, with an ability to quickly and effectively establish trust and confidence of prospects and existing donors at all levels of a corporation
- Superior communicator across written and verbal communication platforms including public speaking and presentations to senior corporate executives
- Strategic thinker with developed ability to assess opportunities and risks, both situationally and regarding broader trends.
- Proven skills in complex deal structuring that has spanned multiple years.
- Ability to develop creative solutions to align corporate donor’s interests, needs and goals with that of World Vision Canada and the field beneficiaries to achieve mutual gains.
- Highly adept at managing multiple projects, tracking progress and providing clear reporting, and prioritizing among competing imperatives to work most effectively toward revenue goals.
- Highly collaborative in a large organizational environment, with the ability to sensitively navigate within a diverse workplace and customer base.
- Minimum 10 years of progress roles in fundraising, business development and/or sales experience in a customer-focused organization or business.
- Minimum of 8 years of leadership experience with sales, business development and/or fundraising teams
- Leadership understanding of CRA charitable tax compliance; CFRE or CPA an asset.
- Master’s degree in business, law, leadership or other relevant field or equivalent experience
