Marketing Assistant & Account Manager

Are you looking to break into digital marketing and gain hands-on experience in SEO, social media, and online strategy? We’re looking for a curious, reliable, and self-motivated Marketing Assistant & Account Manager to support our team across a variety of client accounts.

This is a remote, part-time role with a flexible schedule—perfect for someone looking to learn and grow within the world of organic marketing while working from home.

The Position

The ideal candidate for this role would be someone with previous experience at a digital marketing agency in a client facing role. You must be able to speak confidently to project milestones and set timelines/expectations both internally and with clients, and ideally have a good grasp on digital marketing tactics and comfortably discuss goals and objectives in plain English.

Monochrome operates in a fully remote environment based in Calgary, so strong communication skills and abilities in briefing deliverables are required. You must be able to organize yourself and be comfortable juggling multiple projects at once. We communicate via Slack, Basecamp, and email.

Critically, as a startup and a fast-growing company, we don’t know what we don’t know. You must be comfortable providing feedback, exploring better ways to do things, and providing insights into how we can improve our products and client experiences.

What You’ll Do (Marketing Assistant):

  • At first, your primary role will be to assist our project and account management team with day-to-day client support

  • Publish content to blogs and social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.) on behalf of clients

  • Represent client brands on Reddit, Quora, and other community platforms by engaging in discussions and posting relevant content

  • Conduct online research to support our outreach team (think: finding opportunities for backlinks, guest posts, media mentions, etc.)

  • Help keep tasks organized and moving forward smoothly

The Next Stage of Growth in this role would include (Account Manager):

  • Acting as the primary contact point for select clients (5-10 clients)

  • Working with our team of senior strategists to manage the milestones, deliverables, and strategic pivots of our digital strategies.

  • Creating deliverable schedules to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget.

  • Build rapport with clients to ensure the effective understanding of their goals, expectations, and delivery of projects.

  • Building organic social strategies and ideating creative content to distribute on key platforms.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A strong communicator who’s comfortable writing social copy and online replies

  • Familiar and active on social platforms Reddit, Quora, Meta properties, and LinkedIn.

  • Curious about marketing, eager to learn more about SEO, and ready to take initiative

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage time independently

  • Located in Western Canada

  • Bonus: Experience content publishing in Wordpress and/or Shopify

Requirements

  • Legally able to work in Canada
  • Experience working in digital marketing
  • Personal interest in social media, specifically Instagram, TikTok, and Reddit
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and take direction & feedback is required
  • Have the technology available to work in a completely remote environment (computer, video cam, and reliable internet)
  • We’re in Calgary but you don’t have to be. Availability within MST standard office hours is required.

Compensation & Benefits

  • This contract role has a range of $30-$35 CAD/hour, with an expected 15-20 hours per week of work available until June, and then up to 30 hours until end of contract.
