About the role
A rapidly growing food production facility is seeking an experienced SQF Practitioner & HACCP Coordinator to champion their food safety programs and ensure full regulatory compliance. You’ll lead HACCP plan development and maintenance, drive SQF system audits, and train cross-functional teams—all while keeping their products safe and processes top-notch.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Assist Sr. QA leadership with implementation, verification, and validation of food safety programs across transportation, storage, purchasing, sanitation, pest control, allergen management, and more
- Lead the development and annual maintenance of HACCP systems, ensuring alignment with CFIA and client requirements
- Add new products into HACCP plans and revise existing plans for process or product changes
- Distribute, review, and update SQF/HACCP SOPs and forms; coach responsible employees on compliance
- Schedule and facilitate HACCP meetings; deliver GMP/HACCP training for new hires and annual refreshers
- Conduct monthly facility and SQF internal audits; prepare detailed reports and drive timely closure of non-conformances
- Review raw material Certificates of Analysis and coordinate random verification/testing with QC
- Execute day-to-day quality and food safety protocols on the production floor
- Perform additional QC technician tasks and special projects as assigned
What We’re Looking For:
- Post-secondary education in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field; HACCP certification required
- Certified SQF Practitioner designation or equivalent hands-on SQF system experience
- 3+ years in quality assurance or food safety within a manufacturing/food processing environment
- Deep knowledge of HACCP principles, CFIA/SAFEFOOD regulations, and GFSI requirements
- Proven track record of conducting internal audits, implementing corrective actions, and preparing for third-party audits
- Exceptional organizational skills with meticulous attention to documentation and data accuracy
- Strong training and communication skills; adept at collaborating across production, QA, and leadership teams
- Proficiency with MS Office and quality management software; experience with allergen management and traceability is a plus
- Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced production setting and manage multiple priorities effectively
Salary Range – $60 to $75k plus bonus and benefits
