In times of innovation and transforming healthcare systems, traditional wellness is needed now more than ever. First of its kind, this role is a great opportunity to lead, learn, and ensure access to traditional wellness in the ways determined by the Nations and Urban First Nations of the Vancouver Island Region.
Title: Regional Manager, Traditional Health and Wellness
Salary: $99,899 - $117,528 - $135,158 per year (pay range explained below)
Contract: Term for 1 year
Hours: 37.5 hours (core hours 9am-3pm Mon-Fri)
Location: Vancouver Island, BC, located on the ancestral territories of the Coast Salish, Kwakwaka'wakw, and Nuu-chah-nulth Nations – Onsite – Travel across Vancouver Island and into the remote First Nations communities we serve is required.
About The Role As Regional Manager, Traditional Health and Wellness, you will lead the coordination and implementation of FNHA’s Traditional Wellness Strategic Framework across the Vancouver Island Region, working to embed traditional healing practices into health services in alignment with community priorities. In collaboration with First Nations communities, health system partners, and internal teams, you will support the development of culturally grounded programs and services, including integration within the Primary Care ++ model and other Nation-based initiatives. You will also represent the region in key partnerships with health authorities and government bodies, while supporting primary care planning, navigation, and performance monitoring. Through mentorship and strategic leadership, you will ensure that our services are community-driven, culturally safe, and aligned with the broader Regional Health and Wellness Plan.
About You To be successful in this role you will have/be –
Education
- A university degree in a health-related field, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
- A Master’s Degree is preferred.
Experience
- Min. 8 years of relevant experience, including a previous leadership role.
- 3–5 years of recent and relevant experience in healthcare environments focused on traditional wellness, cultural healing, education planning, project management, and community engagement.
- Proven experience working with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and First Nations communities, with the ability to build respectful and culturally grounded relationships.
- Background in community health and wellness programs, including land-based healing, language and culture promotion, and collaboration with regional health authorities.
- Demonstrated leadership in mentoring and coaching teams, with strong organizational and project management skills to balance multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with Indigenous healing modalities and training and/or fluency or high proficiency in a Vancouver Island Indigenous language are assets.
Knowledge and Competencies
- Strong understanding of traditional wellness practices, cultural protocols, and the diverse health and wellness needs of First Nations communities, particularly on Vancouver Island.
- In-depth knowledge of the BC health care system and the evolving landscape of First Nations health, including the impacts of colonization and current community challenges.
- Demonstrated ability to provide holistic, relationship-based care that is integrated, culturally respectful, and community-driven.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build collaborative partnerships and work effectively in team-based environments.
- Highly motivated and adaptable, with a positive attitude and the flexibility to thrive in dynamic, fast-changing settings.

The Pay Range is the minimum and maximum annual salary based on full time equivalent hours.
Incumbents are typically hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the range based on their knowledge, skills, abilities and experience in relation to the role requirements.
The top 10% of the pay range is for the incumbents who are industry experts in the job with the combination of exceptional experience and competencies needed to perform all duties and responsibilities at a superior capability level. Internal employee compensation will be determined as per the FNHA Employee Total Compensation Policy.
