Job Description (E)

POSITION PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Print Production, is responsible for programming and operating the digital reproduction equipment in the production of reports, forms, booklets and other printed material for all Departments of the Region; assembling external delivery of confidential material to the municipal offices for Council and Committee reports.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Programs and operates high speed digital imaging equipment (Pro 8320S, 5300S) printers to produce Council and Committee agendas, reports and related material for the Regional Clerk’s Office, and forms, tenders, reports, booklets etc., for all Departments of the Region as requested, including confidential materials such as in Camera reports and police tests. This includes turning the equipment to warm up, starting printing jobs, performing the calibration of Digital Colour Printers and performing document scanning services.
  • Performs document building and file manipulation using various types of software including EFI Fiery system, resulting in digital files being sent directly to the printers.
  • Programs, operates and produces colour prints using high speed colour printers to produce colour booklets and brochures, as well as colour page insertion, into black and white documents, as per job criteria.
  • Operates large format printers producing posters, banners, and engineering drawings.
  • Binds and punches printed material using various equipment, including Cerlox, AP 2, Spiral bindery or drill press for all Council and Committee reports, tenders, budgets, Police Training Manuals, and other Departmental documents as per customer request.
  • Programs and operates Folder/Inserter for inserting payroll, immunization forms, Automated Speed Enforcement and mass mail outs into envelopes for direct delivery to Department or internal Regional mailroom.
  • Sets up and operates high speed, multi –fold folder.
  • In-puts daily print requisitions of completed work into the electronic Print Shop charge back system.
  • Maintains daily records of print requisitions with the amounts and type of supplies used for each print order.
  • Responds to inquiries and resolves concerns, through the Supervisor and/or, Manager as appropriate from internal clients and the general public etc.
  • Ensures that services provided meet Regional customer service standards. Performs other duties as assigned, in accordance with Unit, Branch and Department objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Successful completion of a Secondary School Diploma or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years experience in the operation of digital printing equipment producing a high volume of printed materials, and in the use of high end graphic software.
  • Experience with printing binding and digital printing equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mailroom and/or mail equipment functions.
  • Knowledge of paper and binding supplies.
  • Knowledge and operation of proprietary charge back software.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including communication, innovation, teamwork and collaboration, and personal ownership.
