Position Summary
Reporting to the Supervisor, Aquatics Operations, the Coordinator, Aquatics Program, is accountable for the development and coordination of aquatics programs and services, including program assignments, staff support, training and development, and the ongoing evaluation and coaching of all full/part time and casual aquatics personnel.
Responsibilities
include, but are not limited to:
- Support, training and development of all Instructor/Guards, Leadership Instructors and Aqua Fitness Instructors and Team Lead Programs.
- Evaluate and coach staff performance and give ongoing feedback daily and through 3- and 6-month performance evaluations.
- Provide on-deck supervision and evaluation of new and current instructors.
- Provide training of all new Instructor/Guards on responsibilities and expectations indicated in the procedure manual.
- Develop the annual program schedule for the Lifesaving Society and aqua fitness programming and input information into the Intelli program.
- Monitor and oversee the program schedule on an ongoing basis ensuring program spaces are used efficiently.
- Assist with coordination and creation of seasonal Leisure Guides, pool master schedule, pamphlets, and posters.
- Monitor and review the submission of progress cards and test sheets, including due dates and course completion on an ongoing basis.
- Create staff schedules to ensure coverage of pool operations, programs, and services.
- Assist with creation of procedures for all staff relating to facility programs and instructing standards.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a minimum of a two (2) year Post Secondary Diploma or Certificate in a related field, as well as current NL, IFA with CPR-C and AED, Pool Operator Level 2, and Lifesaving Instructor. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the field of aquatics with 3 years’ progressive supervisory and programming experience is required. The following awards and/or instructor trainer certifications are considered assets: Aquatic Emergency Care, Oxygen Administration Certificate; Water Fitness Theory & Aquatic Certification (AFLCA, Water/Art, etc.); NL Instructor, AEC/First Aid Instructor, Critical Incident Stress Debriefing Certification; Supervisory Development Program Certificate; or other applicable aquatic program certifications. This position requires exceptional customer service skills, active listening, problem solving, and on the spot thinking. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Intelli software, and staff scheduling software is essential. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast paced, high volume and multi-task work environment.
A Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check will be required at the time of hire.
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday
Duration: Immediatly – September 23, 2026
This position may be renewed for up to an additional two (2) years
