The Co-op Student would join our Locates, Damage Prevention, & Inspections team based in Ajax with the placement to last 12 - 16 months (preferably 16 months) in Fall 2025.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Contribute to departmental goals by monitoring the full lifecycle of inspection services and associated expenditures. This includes regular collaboration with engineering technicians, inspectors, contractors, construction supervisors, and contract administrators, maintaining and updating tracking tools such as spreadsheets and databases, and delivering consistent status updates during progress meetings.
  • Track and report on progress of departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Participate in the development of new KPIs.
  • Help ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards in damage prevention and locate services.
  • Help maintain and improve digital mapping tools and asset databases used in damage prevention workflows.
  • Support the development of future annual capital project plans related to inspection activities within the Execution Work Program (EWP).
  • Assist in the efforts to continuously evaluate and improve the effective operation of the department and division- including process mapping work using tools like MS Visio.
  • Learn and apply the concepts of good project management and reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SAFETY

  • Must participate in safety training and be knowledgeable of Company safety rules and practices and must implement safe work procedures that ensure the safety of the Company employees and customers.

Key Skills & Qualifications

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, etc.)
  • Basic Python programming knowledge would be an asset.
  • Excellent conversation, writing and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of tools such as MS Visio, MS Project etc.

Minimum Requirements

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate Engineering or Business program.
