Pay & Grade**:** $21.00 to $21.73 Hourly Band**:** 2
Hours of Work**:**Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 9:00am & 3:00pm to 4:00pm (approx.)
Initial location**:** Multiple Locations
**Posting period:**July 15, 2025to July 22, 2025 (at 6:00pm)
Overview
As a Crossing Guard you will assist in the safe movement of all pedestrians including school children crossing roadways at designated points by observing gaps in traffic, assuming right-of-way and indicating when it is safe to cross.
Responsibilities
- Assists all pedestrians, including children as they commute to and from school, in safely crossing roadways and intersections by stopping vehicular traffic on roadways at designated points.
- Watches for gaps in traffic and walks children across the roadway or intersection while holding a "stop" sign in such a manner as to be visible to approaching vehicles.
- Advises children of unsafe behavior.
- Reports issues or incidents to supervisor.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Equivalent to partial secondary school education.
- Up to 1 month of related experience such as customer service or experience working/volunteering with others.
- A strong understanding of pedestrian road safety skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work in a variety of weather conditions in all seasons.
- Able to work with youth.
- Provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Checkat your own expense as a condition of employment.
- Willing to undergo a medical check to ensure that the potential candidate is fit for duty as a condition of employment.
- Required access to reliable transportation and be able to travel to various locations across the city.
- Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
Hours of work**(may vary): MondaytoFriday,approximately 1 hour shift between8:00amto9:30am and****approximately 1 hour shift between 2:45 – 4:00 pm**
