About the role

Levitt-Safety has an exciting opportunity for an experienced technician to join our team as a Fire Sprinkler Technician with Red Seal Journeyman Status in Edmonton, AB.

Our Edmonton team is looking for a quality-oriented Red Seal Journeyman Fire Sprinkler Technician to join us in our mission to make Canada a safer place to live and work. In this role, you’ll be a key player in inspecting, maintaining, and installing fire sprinkler systems for a wide range of customers and industries. We’re looking for someone with a strong commitment to safety, attention to detail, and a passion for delivering excellent service. The ideal candidate must also be flexible and willing to travel for work, including overnight stays or extended assignments in other cities or provinces, as project needs arise. Main Responsibilities

  • Preparation of all aspects of monthly, semiannual, and annual preventative maintenance plans
  • Fire pump inspections and testing
  • Sprinkler system repair, inspections, and testing
  • Standpipe inspections and testing
  • Fire hydrant inspections and maintenance
  • Fire suppression system inspections and testing
  • Provide a preventative maintenance schedule for review and approval
  • Provide documented monthly reports on all maintenance, inspections, tests etc.
  • Coordinate between customer and supervisor on work scope and parts requirements
  • Perform work following all O.H. & S. Acts and Regulations
  • Complete work in a professional and timely manner.
  • Attend to emergency calls
  • Participate in the development of JHA’s and safe work practices relevant to the position
  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, and operation of fire alarm systems and components

Qualifications

  • Red Seal Journeyman Fire Sprinkler with 3 to 5 years of industry experience
  • Experienced in the installation/service/repair of wet and dry pre-action, deluge, and specialty fire suppression systems
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Must have excellent organizational and multi-tasking abilities
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
  • Must be comfortable travelling for extended periods at a time as and when work demands (including other cities and/or provinces)

The ideal candidate will have experience or certification in one or more of the following areas:

  • Foam system inspection and installation certificate/trained
  • Certificate/trained in backflow prevention
  • Working knowledge of fire alarm panels
  • Be able to test and service fire pumps and fire hydrants

The role requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs unassisted, along with strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. Candidates must be comfortable working in confined spaces like engine compartments, at heights on large mining equipment using ladders and walkways, and spending extended periods driving or sitting. The position also involves frequent walking on uneven terrain at customer sites.
