Position Overview
Temporary position until April 10, 2026, approximately.
This position is responsible for building and maintaining the various EORLA Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and being part of a team that supports EPIC Beaker for the Atlas Alliance sites. The incumbent must have knowledge of the tests, ability to build tests, locations, benches, sites, rules, statistics for Meditech LIS functions. Reporting , print queue builds , ability to thoroughly investigate failed messages, and in depth knowledge of Meditech and EPIC relationship. Knowledge of other IS Systems such as Powerpath, Cerner , Biorad , POCT would be an asset.
Basic Requirements

Graduation from an accredited MLT program or equivalent CSMLS prior learning assessment program;

Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO);
-
Minimum 2 years working as a MLT supporting and building Laboratory Information Systems or programs;
-
Experience with building and configuring Laboratory Information Systems;

Experience and a thorough understanding of Meditech and EPIC and how the LIS works as part of the broader systems and connectivity.

Working knowledge of multiple labs, CPOE environment and its effects/dependencies on an integrated system;
-
Knowledge of report writing and the ability to query the database;
-
Knowledge of relevant ACD accreditation standards, health care regulations, and knowledge in medical laboratory theory, principles and practices;

Understands occupational health and safety legislation;
-
Good communication and interpersonal skills;
-
Sound problem solving and conflict resolution skills;
-
Knowledge of Computer/IT relevant to the laboratory;

Advanced knowledge of Excel and data bases;
-
Working knowledge of applicable provincial regulations relating to Privacy of Information;

Working knowledge and technical troubleshooting skills of Meditech , EPIC Beaker, OLIS, Powerpath, and EORLA Centrifuge.
As a pre-condition of employment, all new EORLA employees will be required to obtain and provide a satisfactory Criminal Records Check dated within six (6) months from the date of issue.

The Eastern Ontario Regional Laboratory Association (EORLA) is a member-owned, non-profit organization encompassing the operation of 19 licensed, acute-care, hospital-based clinical laboratories that service clinical programs across the Champlain Local Health Integration Network (CLHIN) of Eastern Ontario A leading, innovative model of integrated laboratory practices in the province, the purpose of EORLA is to deliver patient-focused, consistent, high-quality and cost-effective hospital-based laboratory services to meet the needs of the region's patients.
EORLA laboratories provide diagnostic testing to both hospital inpatients and registered outpatients, performing a total of approximately 12 million tests annually. Comprehensive testing in the disciplines of Anatomic Pathology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Transfusion Medicine, Hematopathology, and Microbiology/Virology is performed.
All EORLA laboratories are accredited by Ontario Laboratory Accreditation (OLA) and The Ottawa Hospital Tissue Typing Laboratory is accredited by the American Society for Histocompatability and Immunogenetics (ASHI).
Laboratory staff includes over 800 Medical Laboratory Technologists and Medical Laboratory Assistants along with approximately 65 Medical/Scientific staff.
