The food safety and quality lead advisor plays a critical role in managing Starbucks diverse and innovative network of food and beverage suppliers for Canada to deliver safe, wholesome, and premium-quality products to market. This role will leverage expertise in the manufacturing of food and beverage products to collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers in support of implementing effective and efficient food safety and quality programs that will ensure a consistent customer experience.

As The Food Safety And Quality Advisor, You Will

  • Leverage the breadth of your technical expertise to identify, mitigate and manage food safety and quality risk across a wide variety of product categories;
  • Ensure that the successful introduction of an array of products to the Canadian market that sufficiently meet or exceed food safety and quality standards;
  • Utilize multiple sources of data and feedback loops to assess product performance and identify opportunities for improvement with the manufacturing and production of products;
  • Support qualification of new suppliers, including acceptability of food safety and quality programs and ensuring supplier process capabilities meet expectations;
  • Manage escalations from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) to ensure accurate and timely response to potential product events;
  • Build trust-based relationships with cross functional partners and suppliers to foster an ongoing culture of food safety and quality.

We’d Love To Hear From People With

  • 4-year degree in General Science, Food Safety, Microbiology, Env. Public Health or Food Science.
  • Strong food safety and quality experience in food and beverage manufacturing settings including plant experience (8 years minimum).
  • Deep expertise in food technology, food science, manufacturing, equipment, quality assurance, microbiology, or food safety.
  • Builds effective and influential relationships internally at different levels within the organization and externally with suppliers and 3rd party providers.
  • Solutions oriented, thinks proactively and addresses problems constructively.
  • Knowledge of GMPs, HACCP Principles, GFSI schemes, statistical process control and lean 6-sigma.
