About the role
Are you an accountable, hardworking individual with proven experience in welding, looking for interesting projects in a collaborative work environment in the West end of Mississauga around Highway 403 & Dundas Street?
We are currently looking for a Welder to add to our dedicated team of fabricators and installers of architectural metal and glass products.
Our Welder works with the project team to fuse a variety of metals into unique custom architectural items. All our work is fabricated in our production facility. We take pride in consistently delivering at or beyond our client’s expectations and aim for only the highest level of craftmanship. Our creations are in various materials including steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, bronze and other materials as required. Our Welders are dependable, proactive and above all else detailed-orientated. Ideally, they have 5 years experience.
This is a full-time position working 40 hours a week. Our hours of operation are Monday-Thursday,
7am- 4pm, Friday 7am- 1pm (Working Friday until 4pm may be required depending on workflow). We offer a generous benefits package that includes health, dental and life insurance and free on-site parking.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform welding tasks such as; TIG mostly, some MIG and occasional silver soldering.
- Working cleanly and with precision on various materials such as stainless steel, mild steel, aluminum, and brass (with strong emphasis on stainless steel)
- Working with various material gauges and thickness from 24 gauge and thicker
- Review and understand all shop drawings and sketches submitted by our Design Department for shop fabrication
- Prepare materials, including but not limited to, cleaning, cutting, grinding, drilling etc., for welding and fabrication
- Prepare layouts and welding jigs as required for each project
- Acquire full understanding and knowledge of mechanical hardware, fastening devices, adhesives and material finishing
- Ensure work area is organized and tidy for efficient completion of work
- Work independently and as a team member both in and out of the shop
- Obtain all necessary information from project leader or office staff to effectively fabricate projects
- Attend shop meetings as required
- Maintain an awareness of the daily manufacturing process of the related projects
- Become familiar with equipment, personnel, restrictions, processes and procedures (including health and safety) common to Reale Born Inc facility and philosophy
- As required, take a lead role position on your shop fabrication
- Perform other duties as assigned by the shop supervisor
Basic Skill Level Requirements:
- Post Secondary school, welding school or trade college
- Efficient in both metric and imperial measurement
- Blueprint reading
Tools:
- Welding mask, gloves and other related safety gear must be worn
- Personal metal working tools are required.
Required Experience:
- Minimum 5 years experience as an employed TIG and MIG welder
- Minimum 5 years experience in a custom metal shop or in a related field of work
- In addition to working with metal, experience working with glass, wood, plastics and other construction materials is expected
Communication Skills:
- Must have good communication skills and must be able to transfer information between team members
- Must be able to communicate respectfully and professionally
Decision Making:
- Deciding on appropriate material choices and manufacturing procedures during the design process to ensure that project costs are maintained within given budget
- To recognize when to seek advice from management and/or specific job personnel when required
Work Environment
- Physical Environment – Shop and office, customers home, project construction sites
- Physical Effort – Must be able to carry up to 80 lbs - must be able to climb a ladder and scaffold while working indoors and outdoors
- Must be willing to work additional hours, as required
