Job Description

Department, Unit or Project Description:

We are seeking a Research Assistant to support data collection for a qualitative research project on child health valuation. The project led is Dr Feng Xie from the Department of Health Research Methods, Evidence and Impact at McMaster University.

Job Summary:

Provide support to research projects including the collection of data and basic data analysis. Work is performed under general direction and guidance.

Accountabilities:

  • Work with the Research Coordinator and/or Principle Investigator to gather and compile data.

  • Assist in the documentation of research protocols.

  • Apply established research methodology to ensure all research material is handled in accordance with established protocols, policies and procedures.

  • Record and maintain accurate records.

  • Conduct literature searches to support research project.

  • Seek guidance and direction from Research Staff or Manager.

Qualifications:

Education: Completed or currently enrolled in a relevant post-secondary program.

Experience: Prior experience in a research environment or related coursework.

Assets:

  • Strong communication, organization and time management skills.

  • Ability to function both independently and collaboratively within a team.

  • High precision and attention to detail. · Familiarity with qualitative research methodology.

  • Knowledge and proficiency with data collection and management applications, including Zoom and Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
