Overview
The Millwright is a key part of our Maintenance team and covers all aspects of machine maintenance, from installation to reactive and preventative maintenance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This hands-on position, involves dismantling and re-installation of equipment, welding/cutting of parts, rebuilding of extruders, thermo-formers, pumps/motors, blowers and other general maintenance activities such as tooling changes, painting, minor plumbing works and ongoing Preventative Maintenance.
Shifts: 8 hr shift (afternoons: 7 am to 3pm/ 11 am to 7 pm). Overtime after 40 hours. Subject to change to accommodate business needs including shiftwork and weekends.
Union: After completing 600 hours.
Details
- Safety First! Conduct all work in a safe manner.
- Wear prescribed PPE when performing all jobs.
- Be aware of hazards associated with each task and report to the Supervisor any potential safety hazard or unsafe practices or working conditions.
- Ensure all Maintenance activities are conducted in a safe manner, following LOTO procedures at all times.
- Install new or rebuilt equipment; weld, cut and repair parts as per work orders.
- Repair/overhaul equipment (e.g. pumps, motors, blowers, etc.)
- Dismantle, clean and re-install machine components including extruder screw, extruder die, polishing rolls, oven heaters, toggle assemblies, etc.
- Machine start-up, assist with tooling changes and assigned PM activities.
- General building maintenance (e.g. painting, minor plumbing, etc.)
- Prepare Hot Work permits.
- Communicate to the Supervisor the status / completion of work assignments.
- General housekeeping of your work area. Good housekeeping = good safety!
- Electrical control voltage troubleshooting and repairs.
- Use CMMS (Megamation) to process work orders etc.
- Actively participate with 6S and other Lean initiatives.
- Other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
What we’re looking for
- A Great Attitude!
- Industrial Mechanic Millwright (433A) ticket or red seal (REQUIRED).
- You will succeed in this role if you act with Integrity, are Customer Focused, understand the importance of Teamwork and Continuous Improvement.
- Ability to understand written and verbal instructions in English.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Able to work in a hot, humid and noisy environment.
- Must be willing to work in a Manufacturing/Production environment with areas of high heat and humidity, dust and high noise levels.
- Must be willing to wear all required PPE protective equipment.
- Able to lift 35-40 lbs on a regular basis and stand for long periods of time.
- Familiar with Amhil products or plastic thermoforming processes an asset.
Assets

Previous experience working in a 24/7 Plastics manufacturing environment.

Sound understanding of industrial controls and industrial drives.

Familiar with Amhil products or plastic thermoforming processes.
