About the role
POSITION SUMMARY
The Communications Coordinator is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination and delivery of Siksika Health Services internal and external communications. They perform a variety of duties and work closely will all Health Services department, Siksika Health Team Leaders and the Siksika Health CEO to deliver public awareness, educational campaigns, advertising, media relations, community engagement and digital and online communications. The Communication Coordinator exercises considerable independent judgement, initiative, tact, courtesy and diplomacy while maintaining confidentiality.
Responsibilities include, but will not be limited to:
- Provide communications support and coordination including writing, photography, graphic design, videography, social media and website updates, maintenance and other relevant services.
- Develop communications strategies for Siksika Heath Services.
- Coordination support for day-to-day operations of the Siksika Health Services Communications department.
- Assist in the preparation of an annual budget and coordinate the Siksika Health Communications Team to work within that budget.
- Assist in keeping track of a budget and financial statements.
- Prepare reports as required.
- Safeguard and maintain an inventory of the Siksika Health Communications office and equipment.
- Incorporate Siksika Language into communication strategies.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of websites, intranet and social media platforms for Siksika Health Services.
- Collaborate with Siksika Health Services to enhance the Siksika Culture through public relations and events.
- Write press releases and related media relations work for Siksika Health Services.
- Network with other communications services when necessary.
- Perform other related duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- Post-Secondary bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or media preferred.
- Post-Secondary Certificate in Business Management is beneficial.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a supervisory position.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud, InDesign, Photoshop, WordPress, Microsoft Teams, Outlook and SharePoint applications.
- Knowledge of Final Cut Pro programs for video editing purposes.
- Knowledge of photography, recording and broadcasting equipment.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and procedures.
- Must have excellent public relations skills.
- Must have excellent verbal and written skills.
Requirements:
- Valid Driver’s Class 5 license is required with up-to-date driver’s abstract. Class 5.
- Full Criminal record clearance including vulnerable sector.
- Knowledge of Blackfoot culture and protocols. Ability to understand Blackfoot language is an asset.
