Your Opportunity:
Wainwright Health Centre is seeking an experienced ORT with the peri-operative course for their busy surgical unit. This OR Nurse role acts as a patient advocate, providing a link between the patient care unit and the Operating Room. The Wainwright Health Centre provides extensive health care services including an active Acute Care, Emergency department, maternity, general medicine, the surgical department, and Long-Term Care. As the Operating Room Technician at Wainwright Health Centre, you are an integral part of the surgical team, responsible for providing perioperative patient care using the nursing process in accordance with CARNA, Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC), and CSA standards of practice. You will deliver safe, effective and efficient care in both the scrub and circulating, post anesthetic recovery of patients, including day surgery. To be successful in this position you must collaborate within the expectations of a highly complex integrated team and be able to perform consistently in a highly organized, rapid moving, and complex environment. You must demonstrate advanced critical thinking, good judgment and expert problem solving skills. This role can be physical demanding as you may be required to stand scrubbed for many hours as well as wear a lead apron for protection.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program.
Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
As Required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Peri-operative certificate completion or in progress. Experience in Operating rooms, pre and post operative experience, Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, Connect Care experience.
