As a Junior Accountant, you will be responsible for assisting with the preparation and monitoring of budget variance analysis, cash flow, financial reporting, revenue audits and internal controls. You will play a critical role in helping us manage our finances effectively and make informed decisions about our business.

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior accountants in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual closings
  • Prepare month end journal entries and bank reconciliations
  • Month end rent roll reconciliation and credit card reconciliations
  • Track and monitor accounts receivables and issue invoices
  • Assist with payroll reconciliations, including salary expenses, vacation/sick time accruals, benefits.
  • Arrange for completion and filing of monthly and quarterly WCB and GST tax filings
  • Other duties as assigned to support accounting and operational requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • One to two (1-2) years of accounts receivable and bookkeeping experience is required
  • Completion of accounting or finance diploma or degree is required
  • Superior interpersonal skills to interact with internal employees and external residents
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, demonstrating strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Strong technical aptitude and work experience with technical applications and systems including Excel and accounting software
  • Experience with multi-site senior housing is preferred
  • Experience with property management is preferred
  • Experience with Yardi is preferred
