HOURS OF WORK:

The stated hours of work are approximate as schedules are subject to change with the operational needs of the Health Centre. Changes made to hours of work will follow the terms of the applicable collective agreement, company policy and/or legislation.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Reporting to the Manager, Finance, the Payroll Analyst works in collaboration with all stakeholders and information partners committed to data integrity and process improvement with an ability to see beyond the numbers. Assumes key responsibilities for processing and analysing payroll data.

Key responsibilities:

  • Analysis of payroll information including investigation, problem solving, presentation and reporting
  • Analyze and reconcile key payroll issues
  • Assists with the ongoing audit and compliance of payroll
  • Collaborates with finance, human resources and other stakeholders to ensure standard practices, quality assurance and adherence to legislative requirements
  • Team player to support initiatives in payroll and act as a change agent
  • Assist departments with monthly operating payroll account analysis
  • Assists with running bi-weekly payroll in the ERP system
  • Assists with the preparation of payroll related remittances
  • Assists in the year end financial audit process
  • Assists with the preparation of monthly payroll journal entries
  • Updates the general ledger for both month-end and year-end closing pertaining to all financial sub-systems

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • Graduate of a post secondary accounting/business program
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner Required
  • 3+ years of analytical experience working in finance or payroll. Health care sector experience preferred
  • 2+ years experience in processing payroll for medium to large size organizations
  • Experience with union collective agreements and pension plans considered an asset

WHO YOU ARE:

  • Ability to balance multiple work demands to achieve deadlines and reporting requirements
  • Ability to take initiative and act independently using good judgement as well as accept direction
  • Demonstrated experience in variance analysis and account reconciliations
  • Demonstrated proficiency in a variety of software packages (i.e. Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • Advanced excel skills required
  • Experience with large data sets
  • Experience in reporting writing
  • Experience using INFOR, Workday and UKG systems would be an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Health care sector experience preferred
