About the Position:

Reporting to the Environmental Services Manager, the Maintenance Worker will ensure that the physical condition of the building is maintained in a condition while ensuring the safety of residents, employees and guests. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the general maintenance, servicing and repair operations to maintain the residence, equipment, furnishings, fixtures and the surrounding grounds in proper condition.

Key Responsibilities:

• Executes routine repairs and carries out minor maintenance to electrical, mechanical and plumbing equipment.
• Performs preventative maintenance across the residence, including major systems inspections, legislative checks and life safety’
• Paints and performs minor carpentry when required.
• Conducts regular reviews of the entire building and reports findings to supervisor.
• Assists with the turnover of suites when new residents move in to the residence.
• Identifies and investigates residence deficiencies and equipment malfunctions and takes appropriate corrective action.
• Understands and follows all health and safety policies and procedures.
• Conducts regular fire and emergency preparedness drills.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Experience as a maintenance worker.
• Demonstrated skills in light carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting and equipment maintenance.
• Certificate from a program in general maintenance.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task.
• Effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
• Available on call as needed.
