As a Financial Analyst in our team, you will be responsible for conducting Value for Money (Performance) audits of various City of Kelowna programs and services. You will apply your analytical and research skills to assess the economy, efficiency, and effectiveness of the City’s operations and provide recommendations for improvement. You will also communicate your findings and insights in clear and concise reports and presentations.
At the City of Kelowna, our team of Financial Analysts implement, approve, analyze and improve financial reporting and accounting systems. Coordinate the work of other financial services staff.
This position is located in our Corporate Assurance branch of Financial Services.
Duties - Union
-
Critically analyzes data, interprets information, legislation and policy, and provides recommendations

Prepares complex spreadsheets for financial accounting functions
-
Liaises with other department staff and external organizations in support of municipaloperations
-
Develops, reviews and approves financial transactions and reports
-
Develops, monitors and audits special projects and agreements
-
Researches and assists with policy development
-
Coaches financial services staff
-
Prepares and delivers presentations
-
Drafts and prepares Council Reports.

Credentials - Union
Option 1
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Designation
- 2 years of experience at the Accountant level or higher
Option 2
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- 5 years of experience at the Accountant level or higher
Relevant experience in internal or external audit is an asset
