Options Community Services is a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering social services across the Southern Fraser region (Surrey, Delta, White Rock and Langley) from early childhood to seniors. Our comprehensive range of programs and services relies on collaborative relationships with individuals, businesses, community groups and government bodies to create focused, effective and responsive resources for the community.

Position Overview

Are you a compassionate and skilled therapist with a passion for helping families thrive? We’re seeking a Family Therapist to provide impactful clinical counselling to individuals, couples, and families referred by the Ministry of Children and Family Development or internal programs. Join our dedicated team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those navigating life’s most challenging moments.

Reporting to the Program Manager, the successful candidate will deliver clinical counselling to individuals, couples, and families referred by external sources or through self-referral (where permitted). Responsibilities include assessing complex social, emotional, and behavioural issues; developing and implementing therapeutic service plans; and providing individual, family, and group counselling. The therapist will also maintain accurate client records, manage a caseload, collaborate with other service providers, and ensure appropriate referrals to community resources. Additional duties include facilitating case transitions, providing follow-up support, consulting with professionals involved in client care, and contributing to program reporting and evaluation.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, Social Work, or a related field, with at least two years of relevant experience—or an equivalent combination of education and training. They bring strong knowledge of family therapy, child development, and various therapeutic approaches, including trauma-informed practice and cognitive behavioural therapy. This role requires professionalism, ethical conduct, the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and a solid theoretical foundation applied to client needs. A valid Class 5 BC driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle are required. First Aid certification and proficiency in a second language are considered assets.

The successful candidate will demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and initiative, along with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. They must possess excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines. Sensitivity to cultural and lifestyle diversity, the ability to maintain confidentiality, and the skill to develop relevant program materials are also essential.

This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
