Job Description
Reporting to the Vice President, LTC Operations, the Director, Clinical Training and Simulation is a dynamic and experienced clinical education leader that will lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of our training agenda and simulation lab programming. This pivotal role supports clinical excellence and staff development across our long-term care operations. We are seeking a Master's-prepared Registered Nurse with a solid foundation in adult education and a passion for hands-on, experiential learning.

Responsibilities:
- Design, coordinate, and deliver comprehensive training programs for clinical staff.
- Develop, implement and manage overall clinical education program delivery for the LTC organization.
- Identify and manage partnership opportunities for curriculum development and delivery, both internally and with external partners (including vendors).
- Align training initiatives with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and best practices in long-term care.
- Oversee operations of the simulation labs, including scenario development, equipment maintenance, and scheduling.
- Develop realistic, evidence-based simulation experiences to enhance critical thinking, clinical decision-making and team communication.
- Identify opportunities for simulation lab programming, equipment and other delivery elements, including developing partnerships where appropriate, to enhance and enable delivery.
- Supervise and mentor a team of clinical educators and training facilitators.
- Provide guidance, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities to ensure excellence in educational delivery.
- Create and update educational materials which may include self-learning packages, clinical educator or trainee guides, e-learning modules, and competency assessments.
- Leverage simulation resources available through the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing as a guiding framework of the essential elements of simulation-based nursing and personal support education.
- Identify opportunities for new curriculum development, and develop partnerships where appropriate, to build and revise materials.
- Incorporate adult learning principles and innovative teaching strategies.
- Facilitate engaging classroom and hands-on training sessions.
- Provide mentorship and coaching to staff to support continuous learning and professional growth.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs using data-driven approaches.
- Collaborate with quality and clinical teams to identify learning needs and address performance gaps.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in nursing, Education, or a related field.
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (or applicable regulatory body).
- Minimum 10 years of clinical nursing experience, and 5 years of clinical (preferably clinical education) leadership experience
- Completion of the Nurse Educator Certificate from the Canadian Nurse Educators Institute, preferred
- Completion of the Clinical Instructor Certificate Course from the Canadian Nurse Educators Institute, preferred
- Completion of Simulation Certificate Program from the Canadian Nurse Educators Institute, preferred
- Proven experience in adult education, curriculum development, and simulation-based training.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in managing or mentoring a team.
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and leadership abilities.
- Proficiency with learning management systems and simulation technology is an asset.
- Passion for person-centred care, culture transformation and service excellence
- National Travel is required.
