About the role

AVC Diagnostic Services invites applications from qualified individuals to fill a full-time temporary position as a veterinary proficiency program technician. The IVetPTC is a multi-faceted fast paced environment with frequent overlapping deadlines. The International Veterinary Proficiency Testing Centre **(**IVetPTC) of Diagnostic Services provides global external proficiency testing for veterinary laboratories/clinics.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supporting the coordinating of the production and preparation of physical samples for chemistry, bacteriology, hematology, parasitology, endocrinology, serology, and urinalysis proficiency modules and virtual samples for cytology, hematology differential, and histopathology.
  • The management, operation, maintenance, and use of the Virtual Microscope.
  • Supporting the management of the web-based software, including statistical analysis, preparing reports, customer technical support, and client relationship management.
  • Preparing International Shipping Documents for Customs.
  • Inventory management for consumables, chemicals (MSDS’s), and proficiency samples.
  • Client relationship management in providing technical support and guidance for proficiency tests and results.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bioscience Technology Laboratory Diploma or Medical Laboratory Assistant Diploma is required.
  • Statistical training and experience is an asset.
  • Must have good organization skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Experience and knowledge of laboratory containment level two compliance and accreditation is required.
