Job Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Chargehand to join the Plant Maintenance team at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team!
As a Chargehand of Plumbing with VCH you will:

  • Provide supervision to designated staff and performs related administrative duties a majority of the time.
  • Facilitate the resolution of work problems by using recognized methodologies and liaising with clients.
  • Participate in the development and monitoring of preventative maintenance programs, including the use of a computerized maintenance management system.
  • Perform skilled steamfitting and pipefitting work at the journeyman level.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Grade 12, plus five (5) years’ recent, related experience including two (2) years in a supervisory capacity or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a Journeyman Plumber.
  • Steamfitter/Pipefitter and/or Class B Gasfitter Certificate with electrical endorsement recognized by the Province of BC is an asset.
  • Valid Certificate of Competency as a Cross Connection Control Specialist issued by the American Water Works Association, British Columbia Section is preferred and will be required within first 6 months of being hired.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to supervise.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
