When disasters happen, Remediation Technician Leads at On Side are truly on ‘your side’. Asbestos and mould can pop-up anywhere and requires special knowledge and experience to deal with. Remediation Technician Leads can perform remediation services while protecting the health and safety of workers and clients.

Remediation Technician Leads are responsible for:

• Ensuring a safe work area from asbestos and mould by knowing how to remove and remediate potential dangers from the work site
• Identifying and disposing of asbestos and mould contaminated materials
• Leading the on-site team and ensuring all crew members are following the remediation plan
• Maintaining clear and professional communication with the homeowner and Project Manager

What you bring:

• Minimum of 1 year experience in restoration (remediation or water damage)
• Ability to perform work following procedure and legislation
• Clean shaven face (if applicable) for every shift (for full mask fit)
• Cleanliness of site, vehicle, and tools
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow scope of work
• Organized with a good sense of time— you’re rarely late and know where all your tools are
• Physically fit— remediation can, at times, include heavy lifting and getting into (and out of) tight places
• Friendly and enjoys working in a team!
• A safety-first mindset
• Valid driver’s licence and a clean criminal record (we do check)
• Ability to communicate in English

Other stuff that will contribute to your success but isn’t required:

• Asbestos remediation ticket
• A background in demolition
• Construction experience

Of Note

Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement.

• Will you wear the proper PPE provided for the job? You will be required to wear full Tyvek suits and/or half or full-face masks for certain jobs. Masks require a person to be clean shaven if that applies to you.

• This position requires leading the Remediation team, communicating with clients and project managers, working on the tools, using computer programs and applications to record information on phones/tablets.

• Are you able to work later than scheduled when required? A job may require an additional hour or two of overtime to be fully complete. Being available to work a bit extra to get the job done is helpful (vs returning the next day for a quick finish). Overtime is paid.
• Are you able to work a Rotating On-Call Schedule (responding to emergency calls after hours)? This is additional to scheduled day time hours. Premium is paid. Overtime is paid.
• This position can be physically demanding and requires a person to bend, crouch, reach, kneel, etc. Heavy lifting is also a job requirement. Are you comfortable with this?
• How many years of leading and providing team direction experience do you have? Please describe.

Experience:

• Identifying and disposing of asbestos contaminated materials: 1 year (preferred)
• Demolition: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

• Canadian Driving Licence (required)
