St. Paul’s Hospital Medicine Department is inviting you to participate in our upcoming Virtual Hiring Fair for Registered Nurses (RNs) and Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPNs)! This event will take place online on August 8th, 2025, between 1300 and 1630. During this event, you will get to meet and discuss with our Patient Care Managers and Clinical Nurse Educators. Successful candidates will receive an offer shortly after interviewing with our panel.
Within the context of a client and family centred model of care, and in accordance with the Mission, Vision, Values and strategic directions of Providence Health Care, the person promotes a safe, respectful, and civil working environment for patients, residents, families, visitors and staff.
Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, the Staff Nurse, assesses, identifies, plans, implements and evaluates the nursing care required to assist patients/residents in meeting their physical, social, spiritual and psychological needs using an established framework for nursing practice. Develops, implements, evaluates and revises the plan of care. Incorporates individual and/or group teaching into the care plan and nursing interventions and/or makes referrals to other identified resources. Supports other nurses and health care professionals by collegially sharing information and demonstrating procedures. The Staff Nurse works within an interdisciplinary clinical framework in accordance with the BCCNM Standards and consistent with the mission, vision and values and established protocols of Providence Health Care.
Education You must be a registered nurse in Canada in good standing and be eligible for registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)

- Medicine Adults and Older adults with chronic and acute ailments such as Upper and Lower GI Bleeds, Cerebrovascular Accidents, Coronary Artery Disease, Congestive Heart Failure, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
- Acute Geriatric Medicine Older adults with acute and chronic ailments that include geriatric syndromes such as Major Neurocognitive Disorders, and Parkinson Disease, as well advanced stages of chronic diseases in the liver, kidney, cardiac, or musculoskeletal issues.
- Conduct thorough patient/resident assessments through chart reviews, observations, interviews, and collaboration with peers.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans based on evidence-based practices, prioritizing patient/resident needs.
- Adhere to established policies, procedures, and PHC standards while providing high-quality nursing care.
- Monitor patient/resident progress, evaluate outcomes, and adjust care plans as needed for optimal results.
- Maintain accurate records of assessments, care plans, patient/resident status, and discharge plans using manual and computerized systems.
- Identify and address patient/resident and family learning needs, providing education and referrals as necessary.
- Provide direction to staff, promote teamwork, and share clinical knowledge to enhance patient care.
- Support nursing research initiatives and contribute to the improvement of patient/resident care policies and procedures.
- Advocate for patients/residents' rights and dignity, facilitate discharge plans, and collaborate with families and community resources.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the healthcare team.
