Position Purpose: The Seasonal Accounting is responsible for assists in the day-to-day operations of the accounting functions and assists with preparation of data for financial analysis. This position will assist and provide support in implementing the Strategic Plan.
Core Role Responsibilities:
- Assists with filing AP documents including the creation of new files.
- Assists with stamping paid invoices, places cheques into envelopes and runs the mail through the mail machine.
- Assists with scanning and photocopying.
- Assists with filing retail, membership, and guest services paperwork.
- Assists with processing of AP (i.e. Visa and Compass).
- Assists with having AP documents approved for processing including the matching of packing slips to invoices.
- Assists with projects.
- Other related duties as requested by the Controller.
- Follows all policies and branch instructions.
- Attends appropriate training as required.
Technical Knowledge and Skills:
- Must have a post-secondary education, minimum 2nd year of an Accounting / Finance / related program, or the equivalent amount of related experience.
- Ability to communicate in English, in a clear and precise manner, both verbally and in writing.
- Must possess a demonstrated aptitude for working with figures.
- Must be able to give attention to detail along with the ability to deal with interruptions and deadlines.
- Must be able to work with minimum supervision and to demonstrate initiative.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, along with strong organizational and communications skills.
- Working knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and WHMIS legislation an asset.
- Must be knowledgeable in the use of computerized programs and systems, including MS Word, Excel and E-mail.
- Must be able to work weekends, shifts and holidays as scheduled.
- Must be able to deal with staff and public in a courteous and efficient manner.
This position is grant funded and the successful incumbent must meet the grant requirements**. This is funded by Canada Summer Jobs.**
